Have you converted a friend from social media in to a real friend?

I have never done that because I never had a good friendship with an online friend. Have you ever met any online friends in reality? I have seen people who made a friend on social media like Facebook and met him/her in real life and became friends in real life. Have you ever done that? I have never done it.

Yep, I met a bunch of my forum friends in real life yesterday (we've met several times before).

I have thought of making friends from the forum sites, but because of the priorities, I could not. Also, I read on many sites that it may be risky, so I dropped the idea.

I have never encouraged this idea for all the risks that it involves. I am not much of a social media person and I accept the friendship invitation or send one only when I am assured of the genuine account. Most of the social media friends are the ones I know in personal life or know through someone. Yes, on LinkedIn, I have connected to known names in the professional circle though I have not known them or met them in person. And following that, I have connected to few from there on Facebook. I had chance to meet a few in some workshop or training in a professional set up. Have stayed in touch with them on professional basis. Can't call them friends as such.

Yeah, actually! I met one guy from Twitter back in 2022. We were always arguing about crypto, then later we became friends. Funny enough, we met face-to-face like six months after. It felt weird at first but now we talk almost daily. Sometimes online friends are more real than the physical ones. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful, the internet is full of different characters.

@uptrendfinancialsignal . That sounds like one sweet friendship story coming from online world. And you two have stayed friends for few years now. Thanks to one TikTok argument that you could actually find such a close friend. You are right that one should be always cautious and never drop the security guards. Internet is full of unsafe people too. You had a lucky encounter turning into sweet friendship. We keep hearing of ugly stories with duping and scamming.

I only met foreigners. They were introduced to me by my friends who married foreigners. They came to my country just to meet me. They are from the USA, the UK, and Bulgaria. It was a nice meeting with them. I brought them at home and at work. They brought me gifts, lol. One proposed marriage but I refused. I want to marry someone from my beloved country.

I heard about a friend from New Zealand you talked about in the other forums. It must be great to meet your online friends. I have never met anyone even from my country, though I meet lots of them on the various forums.

It is also overwhelming to meet someone you met on Facebook in person, but let us be cautious, especially if you are already married or in a relationship. It could create conflict. There are also cases, someone met in person might be a murderer or a rapist. It happened here in the city where I love. The teen met her bf she met on Facebook, so sad, she was raped and killed during their first meeting, and her body was thrown off the cliff.

@Starmix That's sad. I don't know why people easily trust people online without prior investigation. I don't trust people on social media easily because I know most of the people are fake there. They present like people easily trust them and trap people in their net.

@Starmix . That's an unfortunate incident. And sadly that is not an isolated case. We keep reading and hearing about such incidences frequently in news. People have to exercise all the guards to ensure their security. Predators are everywhere trying to trap their victim. Unfortunately, in such incidents the victim would have not shared these things with friends and family. This comes as a shock to families who are unaware of any such developments . Teenagers are the most vulnerable age group though such things can happen to anyone.

Yes, and it shocked the entire community where the girl lived. Her friends and classmates were so overwhelmed with sorrow and pain at losing someone close to their hearts. I called my cousin, a police, and he told me that the rapist-criminal was now in jail and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

@Starmix . Thank you for sharing the updates. I feel bad for the young life lost to navity and falling prey to some online predator. The family and loved ones must be shocked. I know that the void in the lives of loved ones can never be filled. But glad that the justice is served and the criminal is punished. This would bring some mental peace to grieving loved ones. Such harsh punishments should instill fear in others and they should refrain from such criminal activities.
