A boy of 8 years old has been named who was killed in the Catholic school shooting. Flether Merkel was named as one of the two children killed during a mass killing in a Catholic school in Minneapolis on Wednesday.

An eight-year-old boy killed in the US Catholic school shooting has been named - as his father branded the attacker a "coward".

Fletcher Merkel was one of two children killed during mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday.

Eighteen other people were injured, including children aged between six and 15 and three adults in their 80s.

Police said Robin Westman, a male born as Robert Westman, opened fire with a rifle through the windows of the school's church as children sat in pews.

The Catholic school shooting news is very heartbreaking and I think that no parents should ever go through something so tragic especially when schools are supposed to be a safe place for the children. There is a need for better protection for our children and such an environment. My deepest prayer goes with the families and communities that are affected by this ugly incident.

That's very sad news. I don't know what is happening in the world. Kid who had to see the world was killed, all his dreams were broken. I don't know how the weapon is easily accessible for the people in the US. Here, to get a license for the gun is not easy, you have to go through a long procedure for the same and there are rules to carry it publically.
