It would seem that Overwatch are changing how you unlock mythic skins in Season 19.

Overwatch 2 is making a few changes to how Mythic hero skins are unlocked, with purchases now following a specific pattern that should help players feel more satisfied as they buy each tier. These fundamental changes to the Mythic skin unlock system are coming in Overwatch 2 Season 19 on October 14, starting with Divine Druid Lifeweaver.

I think Blizzard did the right thing changing how Mythic skins are unlocked. The old way was just too grindy and unfair too. Hopefully, this makes the game more rewarding again. I used to love Overwatch but stopped for a while, maybe I’ll give it another shot now.
