Do ghosts get active at night?

It is said that ghosts get active at night, but I never knew why it is so.

What do they do in a day? Do they sleep or go to their world? The experience of most of the people says that they saw a ghost at night. My questions may be weird, but I never got the answer. Can anyone explain why it is so?

I guess you can tackle that in different ways with different theories. From my understanding, ghosts are not necessarily hiding during the day, there are many accounts that talk about witnessing a ghost during the day. Most of the day accounts seem, in my experience, ghosts that don't look scary or make you feel uneasy, for the most part.

Night time is where most of the crazy folk tales come from. You could say that maybe there is a better disposition after dark where the innate spirit connection gets stronger so people can perceive more. Maybe during the day there is a lot more fighting for people's attention so they don't even realise they walked by anything odd.

From where I am from, in rural areas you often get the advice to whistle if you are out during night time to ward off bad spirits.
and of course, always treat cemeteries with respect during the day and stay off them during the night.

I won't lie, sometimes I'm afraid of nights especially if I just finished to watching horror movies. I remember the time I went to my village, I saw object moving with nobody touching it. . I still do not know if it’s actually a ghost or my imagination.
