Have you lost contact of your best friend?

Yes, I lost contact with my best friend from school. After 7 years of being together in the school, I lost his contact. In those times we didn't have mobile phones, and landline phones were rare, and we didn't have them at that time, so only his address was the only contact. But when after a few years I searched for him, I found his family had shifted to some other city.

I tried to search for him on various social media platforms but could not find him.

How do you search for your old friend when you lose contact with him/her?

I did lose contact with mine too. We were close for years, then life just pulled us in different directions. I’ve tried social media and mutual friends, but no success. It’s sad, really. Some friendships stay in your heart even if you never reconnect again.

Sometimes, it is hard to stay in touch. I have lost contact of many friends because we grew up in analogue world with no social media. We got connected to many later through social media and one getting to know another one through social media networking. I never lost my best friend's contact though. We stayed in touch with whatever possible ways were available be it phone or email. And now through social media. The irony is that with lesser ways to connect in the past, we were more connected. Now it's getting less talk over phone and just one or two line messages on WhatsApp. I am even in doubt if she still can be considered my best pal. Our lives are so much different in different parts of the world.

Yeah, I actually have. My childhood bestie moved abroad years ago. We used to gist every day, but life just carried us to different directions. Once in a while, we text on WhatsApp, but it’s not the same anymore. I still miss those random hangouts and late-night jokes. But there's nothing I could do about it because it's part of life, people move, but memories stay.

This is the bitter fact of life that no one stays with us for a whole life except our family. And we should always be ready for people leaving us. There are people who easily accept and cope well, but there are people who can and go into depression because of the same.

@Sanjeev . The bitter and hard truth of life that nothing is permanent here. Things change. Situations change, priorities change and so do relationships. No one stays with us forever, even our life partners are not guaranteed to be forever. That's why we say till death do us apart. We are our companion forever. But yes, a big gratitude to all the friends who are not with us, are far, have lost touch with us or even gone for heavenly abode too early, for all the wonderful moments and memories.
